This animated video is based on the series of drawings ‘L'envol’ created for the Charles Biddle and Maurice Pollack Awards, a Culture pour tous commission for the Ministère de l'Immigration, de la francisation et de l'intégration.
It brings together thirty birds in reference to the Iranian poet Attar's seminal work “The Conference of the Birds” (1177), which tells the story of a group of birds who set out to find their king, their source of existence, by crossing the seven marvelous valleys. The thirty remaining birds see their reflection in a lake and realize that the divine source lies within themselves.
